Ultra has had a fantastic start to the year, being nominated for and achieving a number of awards to date. The transport and parking industries are recognising the Heathrow pod PRT system as “groundbreaking”, resulting in a number of awards being won by Ultra.

Winner Award, having already scooped an Innovation Award and the Parking and
the Environment Award.

Back to the future

In 2005, BAA asked British developer Ultra to build the groundbreaking pod
system at Heathrow. But at that point, the pods were just a concept, and much
work still needed to be done. David explains: “Ultra brought the idea, but
they needed to take it to production. They had a test track in Cardiff, and had
some pretty clear ideas of what they wanted it to be, but it still needed work
and energy to take it to what you see now.”
