One of the most environmentally friendly forms of transport ever developed, the Ultra system’s lightweight infrastructure and eco-friendly, battery-powered pods offer numerous environmental benefits.
These include:
The Ultra pod system, which produces no on-site emissions, overall provides a 50% reduction in carbon emissions over buses, and 70% over cars, meeting Kyoto 2050 sustainability targets today. In the Heathrow T5 application, the pod system has replaced the 50,000 bus journeys per year in transporting passengers to and from the T5 Business car park. As the lightweight pods are controlled autonomously, they are much more energy efficient than larger, human-driven vehicles.
In urban applications, the fast and efficient nature of the system makes it an attractive alternative to driving, helping to ease congestion and reduce traffic emissions in the local area.
